Bhutan is embracing the rush of modernization wisely with only negligible changes are invading the Bhutanese society. Architecture is an apparent component which embodies distinctive identity of Bhutanese. From common houses to significant structures like Dzongs (Fortresses) and temples, the structures are based on distinct architectural designs of Bhutan. All architectural structures are emblossomed with decorative and ornamented furnishings.

Dzongs, Monasteries, Temples, Chortens (stupas) and traditional houses exhibit comprehensively the Bhutanese architectural magnificence. Dzongs with their massive size, intricate carvings, colorful paintings and statues representing important religious figures make them one of the most elegant and amiable in the world.

An essential part of Bhutan’s cultural heritage are the thirteen traditional arts and crafts (Zorig Chusum) that have been practiced from the time immemorial. The art of Zorig Chusum or thirteen arts and craft very much remain alive and practiced widely. It forms the core part of Bhutanese arts and crafts, hence institutes of Zorig Chusum where these arts and crafts are taught were established by the government in the country.
